Ava DuVernay's birth was on the 24th day of August on the 24th of August, 1972 in Long Beach California. DuVernay discovered her love for the arts from her grandmother Denise. Aunt Denise, who worked night shifts as a nurse, let her study literature for art as well as theatre in daylight. After graduation, she studied in the University of California Los Angeles and graduated with degrees in English as well as African American study. DuVernay began to develop an interest in the field of broadcast journalism while a student. Her first job was as an assistant to CBS News in the O.J. Simpson's trial. DuVernay was appointed to watch and search the home of a particular member of the Jury. When she was dissatisfied with journalistic work by the assignments she was handed and deciding to go after a career in publicity. DuVernay was hired right after graduating from college as an assistant publicist in the studio that was small. She started The DuVernay Agency, her public relations firm in 1999.
